Veterans Resource Center Welcome Sign Campaign Week 2

What Is The Veterans Resource Center?

Janice Bowman, Military and Veterans Affairs at the Battleship IOWA, herself a US Coast Guard veteran, knows first hand the difficulties of the military-to-civilian transition, as well as the challenges of dealing with the VA system. She is thrilled to be leading the charge to develop our VETERANS RESOURCE CENTER.

Click the photo below to hear Janice discuss what resources the center will provide, the opportunities it will create, and the kind of community we aim to build with it.

Want To Add Your Name?

Be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by adding your name – or a loved one’s – to our Veterans Resource Center welcome sign. We’re offering four inscription options:

  • One-Star: $1,000 – Your name will be included on the Veterans Resource Center welcome sign alongside other one-star donors.
  • Two-Star: $2,500 – Your name will appear on the Veterans Resource Center welcome sign with other two-star donors. Two-star level donor names will be displayed in a larger size than one-star level donors.
  • Three-Star: $5,000 – You’ll receive a plaque inscribed with your name and two additional lines of text (total of three lines for your inscription).
  • Four-Star: $10,000 – Four-star level donors will receive a plaque featuring three additional lines of text (total of four lines for your inscription).

Choose your inscription level below or make a donation of any amount – your support matters!

Honor today’s veterans with your inscription or those who served before them, or just let them know you’re behind them all the way!

All donors will receive a link to an online form when the campaign closes on July 18, telling them the number of characters they will be allowed to use and confirming their inscription. All funds raised through this campaign will support Veterans West programs at the Battleship IOWA!

You’re more than welcome to donate with a check if you prefer. Please mail it to:

Pacific Battleship Center

If you have questions or need assistance making your donation over the phone, please contact Matthias Leier at 877-446-9261 ext. 746.

Thanks on behalf of Battleship IOWA and the veterans we serve!

IOWA Welcomes FIFTY New U.S. Citizens!

Thursday morning, July 1, in conjunction with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Senator Alex Padilla, Battleship IOWA hosted two moving naturalization ceremonies. Fifty new U.S. citizens took their oaths of allegiance on our fantail. The country’s newest citizens hail from twenty-five countries: Argentina, Armenia, Belize, Brazil, Canada, China, El Salvador, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Honduras, Italy, Israel, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Saint Lucia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Venezuela, and Vietnam. Welcome to our family!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Celebrate Independence Day at the Battleship IOWA! The ship will be open and “dressed up” for July 4th from bow to stern with over 120 flags. Purchase your tickets in advance online!

This tradition is reserved for holidays, commissionings, and other special ship events. The photo is from 1986 when the IOWA’s crew “dressed the ship” for a visit by President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy. Bring the family and experience the Battleship of Presidents in all her glory!

Summer Camp Is In Full Swing

Battleship IOWA’s STEM Adventure Camp is underway. Learning is fun in our one-of-a-kind setting.

Thanks to support from the Port of Los Angeles’ Community Investment Grant, a large majority of available camp spots are scholarship funded! Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis to those from low income households in the LA Harbor area. Qualifying income limits are based on California Department of Housing and Community Development 2020 Income Limits for Los Angeles County. If you qualify and would like to apply for a scholarship, please complete the scholarship application. To register as a paying participant, please submit a completed registration form
