Photo Art - Foggy Night - Troy Vail Collection
Professional Photographer Troy Vail has seen the Battleship IOWA from many different angles since he is also our Information Technology Manager on board. Here is how he describes this work of art: After working late one night as I exited the ship, I found that a heavy fog had rolled in. Knowing the fog would add to the beauty of the ship, I decided to explore and take some pictures. The forward turrets are considered to be the "money shot", just looking down the massive barrels and the superstructure behind them. But with the fog obscuring the parking lot, Vincent Thomas Bridge, harbor activity and superstructure it really gives a more ominous aspect. The white parking lot light gives the Starboard side a greyscale quality, while the harbor lights give the Port side a rustic glow. These lighting colors meet almost exactly center line on the barely visible superstructure. The picture is printed with a glossy finish on 11x14 metal with a rear mounting bracket for easy wall mounting. The glossy finish gives the picture an almost mirror like quality and really brings out the sharpness of the picture.
