Due to COVID-19, we’re currently open for outdoor tours only.  Like so many other nonprofit organizations, we’ve been hit hard as a result of the pandemic. Normally, ticket sales make up over 75% of our annual operating revenue, so the museum closure and subsequent social distancing regulations forced us to act quickly and take drastic measures.

We revamped our on-site programs focused on our three core pillars of Education, Veterans, and Community to provide virtual resources and distance learning curriculum.

In spite of the physical restrictions COVID-19 has thrust upon us, we continue to create connection.  Whether that connection is to the lessons and epic moments of her storied past or to memories made aboard her today, this ship touches lives in ways too numerous to recount.

We’re excited to share some of those stories with you during OPERATION CRUSH COVID.

You’ll hear stories from our staff, volunteers, veterans and community partners. We’ll show you how that sense of connection has drawn over 1.5 million visitors to her since her 2012 arrival, and made her a Top 5 TripAdvisor attraction. The ship’s ability to inspire enabled us to begin to plan our next step: our transition to become the National Museum of the Surface Navy.

We’ll be sharing these stories weekly on our GoFundMe page or you can sign up for our email list so you don’t miss a single piece of news!

Right now, you can help us reach our goal to raise $50,000 to keep us afloat over the summer. Give now – go now – do it now!  It’s as easy as clicking the donate button at the bottom of this email.

From the entire crew of Battleship IOWA, here and afar, thank you!
