75th anniversary of the sinking of USS INDIANAPOLIS

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the sinking of USS INDIANAPOLIS.

If you don’t know the story, we invite you to look into it. Only 316 of her nearly 1,200-man crew survived, but that statistic is far from the most incredible part of the tale.

Today, Congress marked the anniversary by awarding Medals of Honor to the crew of the ship.

If you believe history like this must be preserved so that generations to come can learn from it, please consider supporting Battleship IOWA and our future as the National Museum of the Surface Navy. https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/battleship-iowa
