Q. What is the timeline for the opening of USS Iowa?
A. November 1, 2011 – Spring 2012 –
- In Richmond, CA for exterior work with some events to take place pier side.
Spring 2012
- Finalize the top 200 Plank Owners, raffle drawings and Plank Owner lottery drawing to identify people onboard for transit down the main channel.
- Transit tow to Los Angeles Harbor
- Transit down main channel to final berth 87 in Port of Los Angeles.
- Begin collecting artifacts for inclusion in the museum.

Q. How do I stay up to date?
A. We will be updating this website as events continue to be announced. Check out our News & Events section, our Blog, sign up on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pacificbattleship for the most up-to-date information and/or sign up for our Newsletter.
Q. I want to ride the vessel during the tow, how do I do this?
A. The only portion of the tow that will be available to ride is the transit down the main channel in Los Angeles to the final berth. Unfortunately, we are unable to permit riders on the coastal transit to Los Angeles.
Q. I want to donate in a substantial way, but I only see Plank Owner Membership. How do I go about this?
A. Pacific Battleship Center has representatives prepared to meet with substantial donors throughout the country. Please contact Marketing at 877-446-9261 to schedule a meeting.
Q. How do I get on your email list to stay up to date?
A. The easiest way is to “Like” our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pacificbattleship or become a Plank Owner to receive updates on what is happening with the ship.
Q. I would like to email directly a department with my question, who do I contact?
A. Below is a list of each department that will be involved in the USS Iowa project. Please keep in mind that not all departments are active yet and so please follow up in the future.

Q. I am in the military and looking to fly my retirement flag on USS IOWA, how do I go about this?
A. Fill out the Flag Raising Request form and return it with your flag to: Pacific Battleship Center, PO Box 1739, San Pedro, CA 90733.
Plank Owner Memberships
Q. How do I become a Plank Owner Member?
A. Visit our Plank Owners Membership section, select your donation, your preferred level and checkout.
Q. I don’t feel comfortable processing an online order. How can I do this a different way?
A. If you'd prefer, you can send a check with your information for the membership to: Pacific Battleship Center, PO Box 1739, San Pedro, CA 90733.
Q. When will you be cutting off Plank Owner membership sales?
A. We will be cutting off Plank Owner membership sales when we leave Richmond. This is when we will be transitioning to our regular membership program.
Q. What if I am not in the top 200 Plank Owners, will I get an opportunity to go on the main channel transit still?
A. Yes. Pacific Battleship Center will be holding a lottery drawing for additional spaces on the main channel transit.
Museum
Q. I have artifacts to donate, where do I send them?
A. We will begin collecting artifacts during the first quarter of 2012. Once we have our curator in position we will post instructions on how you can donate your items. To submit your information for consideration email museum@labattleship.com.

Q. I am prepared to go to the ship and help restore it. How to I volunteer hours?
A. Go to www.pacificbattleship.com/pledge/index.html and fill out a volunteer form. Only those that input there information in the volunteer form will be contacted with opportunities.
Q. When will I be contacted to volunteer?
A. Pacific Battleship Center will be contacting those that have filled out the form and provided their skill set as opportunities arise.
Q. Is there process for volunteers once they are contacted?
A. All volunteers will be required to fill out paperwork, go through safety training, and have a verification performed prior to being permitted to volunteer on board.
