Ticket Seller

Salary Range: $9.00/hr
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Description:

The Ticket Seller is responsible for selling tickets to the general public from the Ship's Box Office using the ticketing system, while providing general information to guests.  

Duties:
  • Selling tickets to the general public from the Ship's Box Office
  • Assist guests at the Box Office Will-Call window and resolve all issues/problems
  • Create exceptional experience for all guests through a safe, clean, and friendly environment
  • Familiarize self with different venue layouts
  • Answer questions regarding events, tickets, & schedules
  • Reconcile money received
  • Balance monies at end of shift with supervisor
  • Assist with the restocking of box office supplies
  • Follow all operational policies and procedures for box office operations 
  • Other duties as deemed necessary or as directed
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The employee should also have the following qualifications:

Experience / Education:

  • High school diploma or a general education degree;
  • 2 years computerized box office experience is preferred.
  • Prefer experience working with ticketing and bar coding systems; as well as  Office equipment:  copier, computer/keyboard, telephone, fax, and ticket printers.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bilingual a plus
  • Experienced cash handling and strong math aptitude required
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized ticket sales
  • Candidates must be computer literate and able to maintain a guest friendly, quality service attitude at all times
  • Strong customer service experience, with the aptitude to resolve conflicts

Special Events/ Social Media Manager

Salary Range: Salary plus commission on special event space rental fees generated

Description:

The Special Events & Social Media Manager is the primary staff person responsible for actively prospecting for, soliciting, and securing private special event rentals and coordinating the social media outreach program to build brand awareness. He/she performs a range of duties including generating and following up on leads, selling special event rentals, processing and coordinating all requests for private events, handling all event customer inquiries, producing status reports, and generating sales data. The core focus of this position is the development of sustained event rental that meets established annual revenue and visitation goals. Additional duties include working with the local CVB’s and destination management organizations to build the organization’s presence in the special event business.

Duties:
  • Identify and pursue strategic opportunities for capturing special event revenue from targeted constituencies.
  • Solicit and monitor leads for special events based on revenue and goals.
  • Meet or exceed goals for new and returning event contracts.
  • In consultation with the Director of Marketing and Communications, formulate and implement proactive special event marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain database and track Event Sales leads, inquiries, lost business, sales revenue, and provide ongoing status reports as required.
  • Develop and participate in targeted outreach events and program.
  • Coordinate and process all phases of event contracts; book orders, and secure deposits and payment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with destination management companies, caterers, and production companies to increase revenue.
  • Achieve established special events revenue targets on a monthly basis.
  • Report on customer relationships, sales forecasts, and new prospects.
  • Manage assigned revenue and expense budgets for fiscal year within assigned department.
  • Coordinate with Visitor Services staff to schedule and confirm and tour requirements.
  • Working with Director of Marketing and Communications provide direction for all special event collateral production.
  • Follow up with special events customers to determine satisfaction.
  • Manage social media branding campaign on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Instagram to ensure consistent audience building through established procedures. Procedures include posting twice per day including a history post and one additional related to the ship. Posting to be pre-scheduled utilizing Hootsuite software.
  • Manage social media fundraising campaigns.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Painter

Salary Range: $10.00-12.00/ hr

Description:

The primary role of the Painter on USS Iowa is to provide painting and finish services to both shipboard and shore side facilities. Candidates will work under the supervision of the Operations Manager or his/her designate and will be accountable for all painting and finishes for the organization. Painters are required to attend on the job training and be fully acquainted with safety regulations and work procedures before conducting any work for the organization.

Duties:
  • Comply with all safety requirements normally associated with painting in an industrial or marine environment. 
  • Checking and inspecting finishes and evaluating the painting work required.
  • Surface preparation to include cleaning, scraping, sanding, grinding, needle-gun and other abrasive work on a variety of surfaces.
  • Estimating the cost and the time for completing the work. 
  • Completing all tasks as assigned by the supervising individual. 
  • Maintaining quality and standards of work. 
  • Varnishing and removing paint stains as required.
  • Appropriate usage of paint brushes, thinner and other tools and equipment. 
  • Assist in specifying and purchasing of painting materials.
  • Any and all other duties as specified by the Operations Manager
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The employee should also have the following qualifications:

Experience / Education:

  • High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent desirable.
  • Vocational training as a painter, with about 2 to 3 years of experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Functional knowledge of a variety of finish materials and types including epoxies, polyurethanes, varnish, acrylic and various primers.
  • Should have a creative knack to contrast and match paint colors. 
  • Ability to effectively manage time and complete all delegated work within the specified time. 
  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate work functions with fellow workers. 
  • Should be able to work on different surfaces and metals. Steel will be the predominant surface.


Laborer

Salary Range: $10.00

Description:

The primary role of the Laborer on USS Iowa is to provide general labor services to both shipboard and shore side facilities. Candidates will work under the supervision of the Operations Manager or his/her designate and will be accountable for any general labor requirements for the organization. Laborers are required to attend on the job training and be fully acquainted with safety regulations and work procedures before conducting any work for the organization.

Duties:
  • Assist in general cleanup and supply duties throughout the facility to include but not limited to; general cleaning, relocation of equipment, transfer of equipment and material from one space to another, assist tradesmen as required, procure and deliver parts and material etc.
  • Any and all other duties as specified by the Operations Manager
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The employee should also have the following qualifications:

Experience / Education:

  • High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent desirable. 
  • One year of experience in the care and cleaning of facilities

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift and move items of 50 lbs
  • Ability to travel up and down stairs on an extended basis.
  • Ability to work in a team environment 
  • General mechanical skills
  • Simple electrical knowledge
  • Construction or facilities experience desirable
